Hobo Dinner Foil Packet
Description
The Hobo Dinner Foil Packet recipe features ground beef formed into patties layered on a bed of sliced potatoes, frozen green beans, and corn, complemented by sliced onions and butter. Cooking these packets sealed in foil on medium-high grill heat or a campfire steams and roasts the ingredients simultaneously. The beef patties cook through in about 30 minutes, while the vegetables soften but retain structure. The butter atop the packets melts into the layers, enriching the overall flavor. This hands-off cooking method requires minimal prep and cleanup, making it practical for camping or easy home dinners.
The foil packets can be carefully opened once cooking is complete to reveal a flavorful combination of meat and vegetables with a buttery finish. This dish serves a complete meal with protein, vegetables, and starch all in one portion.
As noted, these packets can alternatively be baked in an oven at 375°F for 45-50 minutes until the beef reaches a safe internal temperature of 160°F, offering a reliable indoor cooking option.
