Homemade Adobo Seasoning Recipe
Description
The Homemade Adobo Seasoning Recipe combines garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, sea salt, ground white pepper, and optionally paprika for color and warmth. Mixed evenly, this spice blend provides a versatile seasoning commonly used in Latin American cuisines.
Its flavor profile includes aromatic garlic and onion with herbal notes from oregano, seasoned with salt and pepper, making it a straightforward but effective way to add depth to various dishes. The optional paprika enhances color and adds a subtle smoky element depending on the variety used.
Store the blend in a cool, dark place to preserve freshness and use as needed to season meats, beans, rice dishes, and sauces.
Since adobo seasoning varies regionally, this base blend allows customization or substitution with additional spices like cumin or chili powder according to personal or regional preferences.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1 teaspoon salt sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper or use ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika optional - this is my own preferred addition
Instructions
- Mix all of the ingredients together in a small bowl. Be sure to blend uniformly.
- Transfer the adobo seasoning to a spice container and use as needed. Store in a cool, dark place.
