Homemade Baked Onion Rings

Homemade Baked Onion Rings offer a baked alternative to the classic fried onion rings, delivering a crisp coating with a tender onion inside. They are made by slicing onions into half-inch rings and dipping them into a batter composed of eggs, milk, flour, sugar, seasoned salt, baking powder, black pepper, garlic powder, dried parsley flakes, and bread crumbs. Baking at 400 degrees and flipping halfway through creates a golden, textured exterior without deep-frying.

Description

This recipe for Homemade Baked Onion Rings starts with large onions sliced into rings about half an inch thick. These rings are separated and dipped in a batter blending eggs, milk, flour, sugar, seasoned salt, baking powder, black pepper, garlic powder, dried parsley flakes, and plain bread crumbs. This mixture coats the onion rings thoroughly to provide a flavorful crust. The coated rings are placed on a lightly greased baking sheet and baked at 400°F (205°C). They bake for 10 minutes, flipped, then continue baking for another 10 minutes to achieve even browning and crispness.

The result is tender, sweet onion centers encased in a golden crunchy coating without the need for frying. The seasoning blend brings balanced savoriness with herb and garlic notes. Baking instead of frying also reduces the oiliness while preserving satisfying texture. The bread crumbs and baking powder contribute to a crispy exterior. These onion rings are best served immediately to retain their crispness.
