Homemade BBQ Sauce
Description
The sauce combines ketchup with apple cider vinegar and water to create a tangy and slightly diluted base. Brown sugar adds sweetness, while tamari (or soy sauce) delivers umami depth and saltiness. Yellow mustard contributes mild sharpness, and the blend of garlic powder, cumin, onion powder, and smoked paprika introduces savory, earthy, and smoky notes.
Simmering the mixture over low heat for about 20 minutes thickens the sauce and allows flavors to meld thoroughly. The result is a rich, smooth BBQ sauce with balanced sweetness, acidity, and spice. It can be stored refrigerated for up to two weeks.
This versatile sauce can be used to baste grilled meats during cooking, served as a dipping sauce, or added to sandwiches and burgers to enhance flavor.
