Homemade Breakfast Sausage

Homemade Breakfast Sausage blends ground pork with a mix of brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and aromatic dried herbs like thyme, rosemary, sage, marjoram, and a pinch of cayenne for a spiced, savory flavor. Formed into patties and pan-fried, it delivers tender, flavorful sausage suitable for morning meals.

Description

This recipe starts by combining ground pork with a balanced seasoning of brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and a blend of dried herbs including thyme, rosemary, sage, marjoram, and a hint of cayenne pepper. An optional smokehouse maple seasoning can add a smoky-sweet note if desired.

The seasoned mixture is shaped into even-sized balls, then pressed into patties. Cooking in a nonstick skillet until fully cooked results in a juicy, tender breakfast sausage with a well-rounded herbaceous and mildly sweet profile. The herbs contribute savory depth, while the brown sugar balances with gentle sweetness.

These sausage patties complement typical breakfast items and can be served alongside eggs, toast, or pancakes. Their homemade nature allows control over seasoning intensity and freshness versus store-bought options.
