Homemade Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Grapefruit Margarita

This Grapefruit Margarita is a refreshing and great twist on a classic cocktail, possibly the perfect Margarita for Winter! And it's new BBF is homemade, juicy, perfectly seasoned Fried Chicken!

Ingredients

Servings

Buttermilk Fried Chicken:

  • 1 tsp smoked sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1 tps thyme dried
  • 1 tsp marjoram dried
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper ground
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 4-6 medium chicken thighs boneless, skinless
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3-4 cups vegetable oil high heat tolerant, such as canola or peanut

Grapefruit Margarita:

  • 2 oz. pink grapefruit juice fresh squeezed
  • 2 oz. tequila
  • 1 oz. Cointreau

Notes

  • * the easiest way to tell how hot the oil is, is with a candy thermometer. An instant read meat thermometer won't work and could get damaged if used here. ** depending upon the size of your chicken thighs you may or may not need the oven. Only the larger thighs I had required the additional cooking time. Chicken should always be cooked to an internal temperature of 165° F.
