Homemade Catalina Dressing Recipe
Description
This Catalina dressing starts with acidic red wine vinegar combined with ketchup and honey to balance sweetness and tartness. Flavor depth is added through Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, smoked paprika, and a blend of garlic and onion powders. The mixture is pureed until smooth, and then oil is slowly added while blending to emulsify the dressing, giving it a glossy, uniform texture. This method avoids separation and ensures the flavors meld evenly.
The resulting dressing has a well-rounded taste with subtle smokiness from paprika and savory notes from soy and Worcestershire sauces. It’s versatile for green salads or as a sauce for dipping and marinating.
Storing the dressing refrigerated in an airtight container helps maintain freshness for up to a month. It can be adjusted for salt or pepper to taste after blending.
