Homemade Chocolate Coconut Sugar Scrub

This Homemade Chocolate Coconut Sugar Scrub combines brown sugar, coconut oil, almond oil, and cocoa powder to create a textured exfoliant with moisturizing properties. The brown sugar gently exfoliates while the coconut and almond oils nourish the skin. The addition of cocoa powder adds a subtle chocolate scent, complemented by hints of coconut extract. It's designed for use on the body and lips but not the face, making it ideal for those looking for a rich, moisturizing scrub to use weekly or biweekly.

Description

The Homemade Chocolate Coconut Sugar Scrub blends loosely packed brown sugar with solid coconut oil and almond oil to provide gentle exfoliation and hydration. Cocoa powder gives the scrub a natural chocolate color and aroma, and the optional coconut extract intensifies the scent. The scrub is mixed thoroughly to break down the coconut oil into a smooth consistency without chunks, making it easy to apply. It is intended to be rubbed onto the skin and then washed off, suitable for body application and safe for lips, but not recommended for facial skin due to its exfoliating granules. The formulation allows it to be stored at room temperature and used once a week or every other week without spoiling.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup brown sugar loosely packed
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil in solid form
  • 1/3 cup almond oil
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder unsweetened
  • coconut extract a few drops, or coconut essential oil

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients together in a large bowl and mix until combined. I like to mix with the back of a spoon until the coconut oil all breaks down and no chunks remaining. If desired, top the scrub with a few chocolate chips or cacao nibs before packaging.
  2. To use the scrub, simply rub it over your skin and wash off! FYI: I do not use this on my face. I do use it on my lips though – so perfect! As long as you are using this once a week or every other, it should stay fine at room temperature.
