Homemade Crackers

These Homemade Crackers are savory, crisp bites made with a blend of all-purpose flour, Parmesan cheese, and herbs like basil, enhanced by black pepper for subtle heat. The dough incorporates butter and heavy cream for richness, rolled thin and cut into shapes before baking to golden, crunchy perfection. They serve as a versatile snack or accompaniment to cheese, dips, or soups.

Description

The cracker dough combines flour, salt, pepper, dried basil, and finely grated Parmesan cheese for flavor depth, with softened butter and heavy cream providing moisture and a tender, flaky texture. After rolling the dough thinly, shapes are cut out and each is pricked with a fork to prevent puffing while baking at 400°F until the edges brown and the crackers become crisp.

These crackers offer a balance of cheesy savoriness and herbal hints with a crunchy texture from the precise baking time. They can be shaped variably, making them suitable for serving with spreads or as a stand-alone snack. Cooling them on the baking sheet preserves their crispness.
