Homemade Croutons

Homemade Croutons made from cubed bread tossed with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper bake until crisp and golden. This process creates crunchy bread cubes suitable for salads, soups, or snacking. The simple seasoning enhances the bread’s flavor without overpowering it. Cooling after baking ensures the croutons firm up to their final crisp texture.

Description

To make Homemade Croutons, bread is cut into approximately 3/4-inch cubes and coated with olive oil along with seasonings including garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Spreading the cubes evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet allows them to bake uniformly at 3756F. Turning once during baking promotes even crisping and browning all around.

The resulting croutons have a crunchy texture that adds bite and flavor to salads and soups. They retain a mild garlic note and balanced saltiness that complements many dishes. Cooling completely after baking helps them crisp further and prevents sogginess.

These croutons are convenient to store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to two weeks. They freeze well for up to six months and can be reheated in a low oven to restore crispness. This makes them handy to prepare in advance for multiple uses.
