Homemade Dog Treats

These Homemade Dog Treats combine whole wheat and all-purpose flours with oats and cornmeal for texture. The dough is enriched with canola oil, egg, water, and peanut butter (without xylitol) for flavor and binding. The treats are rolled thin, cut into shapes, and baked until crisp, providing a crunchy snack for dogs.

Description

The recipe blends white whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, quick oats, and cornmeal to create a textured dough. Wet ingredients include canola oil, egg, water, and peanut butter safe for dogs, ensuring binding and palatability. The dough is rolled out to 1/8 inch thickness and cut with cookie cutters for portion control and shape variety.

Baking occurs in two 10-minute intervals with a final 20 minutes in the cooling oven to dry them thoroughly, ensuring the treats develop a crisp finish suitable for dogs. The recipe yields about 18 treats using a 2-inch diameter cutter.

These treats serve as wholesome snacks or training rewards, made from familiar pantry ingredients and baked at home for quality control and ingredient safety.
