Homemade Fire Cider Recipe

Homemade Fire Cider is a potent, vinegar-based tonic infused with fresh horseradish, ginger, turmeric, garlic, habanero peppers, citrus, and peppercorns. Steeped for several weeks, it develops a sharp, spicy flavor with warming, pungent notes from the roots and peppers. This acidic herbal preparation is typically consumed in small amounts as a boost or remedy.

Description

The Homemade Fire Cider recipe infuses raw apple cider vinegar with a variety of potent ingredients including diced horseradish, ginger, turmeric, garlic, habanero peppers, orange, lemon, and peppercorns. All components are combined in jars and left to macerate in a cool, dark place for about four weeks. During this time, the vinegar extracts flavors and beneficial compounds from the fresh roots and peppers, resulting in a flavorful tonic.

The tincture carries sharp and spicy notes contributed by horseradish and habanero, balanced with citrus brightness from orange and lemon. The turmeric adds earthiness and warmth, and the mixture benefits from the depth of whole peppercorns. After steeping, the solids are strained out, leaving a vibrant, strong vinegar that can be used in small doses as a flavor enhancer or natural tonic.

This recipe yields approximately 1.5 quarts of Fire Cider. Honey can be added if a sweeter version is desired. Common uses involve consuming a tablespoon as a daily health tonic or incorporating it into salad dressings and marinades for an extra kick.
