Homemade Gianduja (Italian Chocolate Hazelnut Spread)

Homemade Gianduja is a smooth chocolate-hazelnut spread made by melting dark chocolate and blending it with pure hazelnut butter, powdered sugar, sea salt, and a touch of vanilla. This spread offers a rich yet balanced flavor, combining the deep cocoa notes with nutty sweetness and a hint of salt for contrast. It is stored at room temperature and can be used as a versatile topping or ingredient in various desserts.

Description

The Homemade Gianduja recipe combines chopped dark chocolate melted gently over a double boiler with 100% pure hazelnut butter. Gradually stirring together ensures a smooth blend of chocolate and nuts. Adding icing sugar and a pinch of sea salt balances the sweetness and enhances the overall flavor, while a small amount of vanilla extract adds depth. The mixture should be stirred continuously to prevent seizing and maintain a creamy texture.

The final product is a chocolate spread with a rich, nutty profile and smooth consistency suitable for spreading on bread, incorporating into pastries, or using as a dessert topping. Storing it at room temperature in a clean jar preserves its texture for up to one week.

This recipe focuses on simple, high-quality ingredients blended carefully without additional additives, highlighting the pure flavors of chocolate and hazelnuts. It’s a straightforward way to create a traditional Italian chocolate-hazelnut spread at home.
