Homemade Gingerbread Latte

Skip the lines (and the expense) at your local coffee shop, and make this creamy, sweet and spicy Homemade Gingerbread Latte at home! It’s just what you need for chilly mornings, or frosty afternoons!

For the Gingerbread Syrup

  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar

Instructions

For the Gingerbread Syrup

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Heat, stirring, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Let simmer gently for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Strain the mix through cheesecloth.

To make the latte

  1. Add 1-4 Tbs (or more, to taste) Gingerbread Syrup, and stir.
  2. Pour your freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee into your favorite mug or cup (make it a big one, this is good) 
  3. Top with steamed or warmed milk.
  4. Finish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

  •  
  • No espresso? Try instant espresso powder or very strong brewed coffee.
  • You can froth milk using a milk frother, a steamer, or use an electric beater. You could use a mason jar with a lid and shake it, too!
  • Want to make this “adult”? Add a shot of rum, bourbon or brandy.
  • How to store the syrup
  • Store in a bottle with a lid at room temp for several weeks.
  • Substitutions/Additions
  • Brown sugar can be used in place of molasses.
  • Add a little booze to your latte. Go on!
