  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup macaroni dry
  • 1 cup water hot
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper ground
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon parsley for garnish, minced

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a 12 inch skillet over medium heat, crumbling it as it cooks. Drain grease.
  2. Add all of the remaining ingredients to the skillet with the beef, except for the cheese. Stir well.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cover. Cook for 12 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat, stir in the cheddar cheese, and cover for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir well, sprinkle with parsley, and serve.

Notes

  • The sugar helps balance flavors and mimic the taste of boxed Hamburger Helper, but it can be omitted if desired.
