Homemade Healthy Gummies
Description
This recipe blends orange juice with beef gelatin, heated until the gelatin fully dissolves into the juice, then sweetened lightly with honey depending on preferred sweetness. The mixture is poured into molds or a shallow container to set refrigeration for 1 to 2 hours. Once firm, the gummies can be removed from molds or cut into cubes. The gelatin gives the gummies a chewy texture while the orange juice provides a fresh citrus flavor enhanced subtly by the honey.
The method is straightforward and uses minimal ingredients to create homemade gummy snacks that avoid artificial flavors or preservatives commonly found in store-bought versions.
Ingredients
- 1 cup orange juice not from concentrate
- 1 1/2 tablespoons beef gelatin
- 1-2 tablespoons honey depending on how sweet you like the gummies
Instructions
- Place the orange juice in a small saucepan on high heat until it simmers.
- Add the gelatin while whisking until it's dissolved. Then, add the honey, if using.
- Pour mixture into gummy bear molds (use an eye dropper for less mess) or pour into a shallow container.
- Place in the fridge until set, about 1-2 hours.
- Remove from molds, or slice into cubes, and enjoy.
