Homemade Hot Chocolate
Description
The Homemade Hot Chocolate recipe uses a combination of whole milk and half and half for a creamy base. Semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips melt into the liquid along with cocoa powder and granulated sugar, creating a deep chocolate flavor. Vanilla extract adds a rounded aroma to the mix. The ingredients are combined and heated in an Instant Pot on manual setting for one minute, then allowed to natural release which ensures gentle cooking and melding of flavors.
This preparation results in a smooth, rich hot chocolate that can be served as is or topped with additional flavorings such as salted caramel, peppermint, or chocolate sauce to suit taste preferences. The drink has a thick mouthfeel and satisfying sweetness balanced by the cocoa and vanilla.
Ingredients
- 4 cups milk whole
- 2 cups half and half
- 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or extract of choice)
Instructions
- In the Instant Pot, add all of these ingredients. Mix well. Place the lid on and set the manual timer for 1 minutes. Allow a natural release (about 30 minutes) and top with your favorite flavors such as salted caramel, peppermint, or chocolate sauce! Enjoy!
