Homemade Hot Sauce
Description
Homemade Hot Sauce is made by simmering jalapeno pepper, chopped onion, and garlic in water until tender. After cooling, the mixture is processed with white vinegar to create a smooth, flavorful hot sauce. The vinegar adds acidity that balances the pepper's heat and preserves the sauce. It's versatile as a condiment, ideal for spicing up meals like tacos, eggs, or grilled foods.
The cooking process softens the ingredients, allowing the flavors to meld smoothly once pureed. This sauce’s texture is smooth and pourable, enhancing its usability. No additional seasoning beyond these few ingredients keeps it straightforward but effective.
Because it’s refrigerated and not canned, it keeps well up to six months, making it convenient to prepare in larger batches to have on hand. Use it as desired to add controlled heat and tang to various dishes.
Ingredients
- 1 large jalapeno pepper or hot pepper of choice, veined, red
- ½ onion chopped
- 2 garlic chopped, cloves
- 1 c water
- 1 c white vinegar

- Sauce will keep in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.
