Homemade Oven Baked Jalapeno Poppers
Description
Homemade Oven Baked Jalapeno Poppers combine jalapenos, cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and green onion for a creamy, cheesy filling. After deseeding and halving jalapenos to control heat, the filling is spooned into each pepper half. The panko and butter topping creates a golden, crisp crust when baked at 400°F, enhancing the texture contrast. Baking for 18-20 minutes softens the peppers while developing a lightly browned, crunchy topping. Wearing gloves while prepping and removing seeds ensures safe handling of the peppers' heat.
The poppers serve well warm, either as finger food at parties or a tasty side. Their rich and tangy filling is balanced by the mild but distinctive pepper bite. Because the filling can be made days ahead and stored chilled, they offer flexible prep options. Assembling the poppers in advance without topping allows storage before baking, which may take slightly longer in the oven starting from cold. Letting the poppers rest briefly after baking helps the filling set and cool slightly for handling.
Overall, this recipe offers a reliable method to enjoy classic jalapeno poppers with a crisp topping and creamy interior in a convenient oven-baked format, manageable for home cooks planning ahead.

- Assemble poppers ahead without panko topping, layer in a container with parchment paper, and refrigerate.
