Homemade Oyster Sauce Substitute

  • 3 tablespoons oyster juice from canned oysters
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce light
  • salt to taste
  • sugar to taste

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, add water and the juice from canned oysters.
  2. Bring it to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Cover with a lid and let it simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add both light and dark soy sauce.
  5. Add salt and sugar to taste.
  6. Let the mixture simmer for 10 more minutes or until slightly thickened. Let it cool before using it.
