Homemade Pancake Recipe
Description
The recipe mixes dry ingredients including flour, milk powder, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt, then adds egg, melted butter, and cold water to form a lump-free batter. The water amount adjusts the batter’s thickness to preference. Cooking is done on medium-low to medium heat using a buttered non-stick skillet, frying the pancakes until evenly golden on both sides.
The pancakes have a soft interior with a slightly crisp edge from cooking in butter, creating a traditional texture and flavor profile. They can be served plain or with classic toppings like butter and maple syrup for a classic breakfast experience.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour unbleached
- 1/3 cup milk powder instant dry
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoon butter or canola oil, melted
- 1 1/4 cups water cold
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk all dry ingredients together until well combined. Create a well in the center and add in the egg, butter, and water. Whisk well to create a mostly lump-free batter. If the batter is too thick for your liking, add in more water. If the batter is too thin, add more flour.
- Fry on a lightly buttered nonstick skillet over medium-low to medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
- Serve with butter and maple syrup.
