Homemade Panera Honey Walnut Cream Cheese

This homemade Panera-style honey walnut cream cheese combines softened cream cheese with honey, molasses, brown sugar, and cinnamon to create a sweet, spiced spread. Chopped walnuts add a crunchy texture, making it an indulgent and flavorful topping suitable for bagels, toast, or crackers.

Description

Softened cream cheese is blended with honey, molasses, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth and well incorporated. Chopped walnuts are either added raw or toasted briefly to enhance their fragrance and crunch before folding into the cream cheese mixture. The finished spread balances sweetness, warm spices, and nutty texture in a creamy base.

Toasted walnuts provide a subtle depth of flavor without overpowering the sweetness of the honey and brown sugar. This preparation stores in an airtight container in the refrigerator and is typically served chilled. It pairs well with breakfast breads or snacks needing a rich, sweet complement.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon walnuts chopped

Instructions

  1. If you wish, toast the walnuts in a skillet over medium-high heat until they just turn fragrant. Watch the skillet closely - there is a short time between the nuts being toasted and burnt. Take the nuts off the heat and allow them to cool completely.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, honey, molasses, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir until all of the ingredients are well blended.
  3. Stir the walnuts into the honey cream cheese.
  4. Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
