Homemade Pizza Hut Cavatini
Description
Homemade Pizza Hut Cavatini assembles cooked rotini, shell, and wagon wheel pasta with a mixture of browned ground beef and Italian sausage blended into a tomato-based spaghetti sauce. The casserole is layered in a baking dish with the sauce, noodles, thinly sliced pepperoni, onions, and green bell peppers, then topped with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. It bakes at 350°F until the cheese melts and the flavors meld together, creating a rich and filling pasta bake.
The variety of pasta shapes contributes a pleasant texture contrast, while the combination of three cheeses and meats provides layers of savory flavor. The thinly sliced vegetables and pepperoni slices add freshness and a subtle spice enhancing the finished dish.
This baked pasta dish works well as a main course for family dinners or casual gatherings, served hot straight from the oven often alongside a crisp salad or garlic bread.
Optionally, sliced mushrooms can be added to deepen the savory notes. The recipe yields a generously layered casserole filling an 11 x 13-inch pan, making multiple servings.
