Homemade Pumpkin Spice Creamer
Description
The creamer combines pumpkin pie spice, pumpkin puree, light brown sugar, and half and half in a saucepan. The mixture is whisked together and brought to a simmer over medium-high heat, then simmered briefly to dissolve the sugar and integrate the flavors. After cooling slightly, the creamer can be added to coffee along with optional toppings like whipped cream and cinnamon. Leftovers are stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
This creamer provides a creamy, spiced flavor to coffee without needing to use commercial products. The use of pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice offers natural autumnal flavors, while the brown sugar sweetens the creamer to balance the spices. Heating is necessary to blend the ingredients and develop the flavor.
Homemade pumpkin spice creamer fits well into seasonal coffee routines, allowing customization of sweetness and spice levels. It also allows control over ingredients, avoiding preservatives found in some store-bought versions.
