Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

This Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte blends espresso with heated milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract. The milk is frothed to create creamy foam, and the latte can be topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of spice for a festive beverage. It captures autumn flavors and offers a richly textured coffee treat.

Description

The latte starts by heating milk gently without boiling, preserving its natural sweetness and avoiding scorched flavors. Espresso is brewed and combined with pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract to create a spiced coffee base. The milk is frothed using a frother to add airiness and a light texture.

Frothy milk is poured over the spiced espresso mixture with extra foam spooned on top, delivering both rich flavor and creamy mouthfeel. Whipped cream adds indulgence and can be dusted with additional pumpkin spice or cinnamon for aroma and decoration.

The pumpkin pie spice blend can be homemade with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, or allspice if a pre-mixed blend is unavailable, allowing control over the spice intensity and character.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 espresso or sub 1/2 cup hot freshly brewed coffee but I prefer espresso
  • 1 cup milk of choice, preferably a milk that froths well (we love oat milk
  • 3 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup to sweeten
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped Cream for topping, optional but recommended

Instructions

  1. Pour milk into a small pot and heat over medium-low heat until it is hot and almost simmering, but do not boil the milk.
  2. Make your espresso and pour it into a large mug or glass mason jar. Add pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla and stir until well combined.
  3. Use a milk frother to froth your milk for about 30 seconds or until foamy, then pour into the mug on top of the pumpkin espresso mixture. Reserve the extra foam, and spoon it on top.
  4. Feel free to top with whipped cream if you wanna get a little fancy. Sprinkle with a little extra pumpkin spice or cinnamon.

Notes

  • Create a homemade pumpkin pie spice by combining cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and allspice if a pre-made blend is unavailable.
