Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe

Homemade Ranch Dressing is a creamy blend of cold buttermilk, sour cream, and mayonnaise combined with vinegar and dried herbs such as parsley, dill, onion, and garlic powders. After mixing and chilling, it offers a tangy, herbaceous flavor and thick texture that works well as a salad dressing or dip.

Description

This recipe calls for combining cold dairy ingredients—half a cup each of buttermilk, sour cream, and mayonnaise—with white vinegar and dried seasonings like onion powder, dried parsley, dill, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. The mixture is whisked until smooth and refrigerated for at least two hours to allow flavors to marry and the texture to thicken. The blend of herbs and garlic provides a familiar ranch profile balanced with the tang of buttermilk and vinegar.

The dressing can be used on salads, as a dip for vegetables or chips, or as a sauce for grilled meats. Adjust salt to taste depending on use; for dipping, less salt may be preferable, whereas salad dressing may benefit from slightly more seasoning.

Store the dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Shake or stir before each use to redistribute any settled ingredients.
