Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Quick homemade spaghetti sauce made with pantry staples! It's bursting with flavor and will have you ditching the store bought spaghetti sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage ground
  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • 1 onion diced, large
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning dried
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper ground
  • 1 Tablespoon dried parsley flakes
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 28 ounces diced tomatoes canned
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes canned
  • 1 cup water

To Serve:

  • 1 pound pasta prepared

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or pan, add the ground sausage and beef and cook over medium-high heat. Add in the onion and garlic and cook until the meat is browned and no pink remains. Drain off grease.
  2. Reduce heat to medium; add in the sugar, Italian seasonings, salt, pepper and parsley to the skillet with meat. Stir to combine. Then add in the tomato paste and stir to combine.
  3. Pour in diced tomatoes with liquid, crushed tomatoes and water to the skillet. Stir until well combined. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Serve immediately over pasta.

  • FRIDGE: Pour leftover sauce into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • FREEZER: Store leftover pasta sauce in an airtight container or freezer bag. Freeze for up to 3 months.
