Homemade Starbucks Spinach Feta Breakfast Wrap
Description
This breakfast wrap begins by whisking egg whites seasoned with salt and black pepper. The eggs are gently cooked over medium-low heat until soft, then topped with fresh spinach leaves that wilt slightly from residual heat. The egg and spinach mixture is placed on a whole wheat tortilla, then scattered with small quantities of sun-dried tomatoes and feta cheese, providing bursts of intense tomato sweetness and salty creaminess respectively. The tortilla is carefully folded, first from the bottom and then the sides, creating a compact wrap.
The wrap combines the softness of cooked egg whites with the tender texture of spinach, the chewy sweetness of sun-dried tomatoes, and the crumbly saltiness of feta. The whole wheat tortilla adds subtle nuttiness while serving as a convenient hand-held container, making this wrap suitable for a quick or on-the-go breakfast.
An optional step, if available, is briefly pressing the wrap in a Panini press to add a warm, slightly crisp exterior and meld the flavors further without overcooking the filling. This wrap is best enjoyed fresh to appreciate the delicate textures and balanced flavors.
Ingredients
- 3 egg white, or 1/3 cup of egg whites
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper ground
- 1/4 cup spinach fresh leaves
- 1 burrito-sized whole wheat tortilla or wrap
- 2 teaspoons sun-dried tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons feta cheese
Instructions
- In a small bowl, beat the egg whites with salt and pepper.
- Heat a small nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Spray the skillet with nonstick spray and pour in the eggs. Gently shake the skillet as the eggs cook.
- Add the spinach on top of the eggs and let the spinach wilt.
- Remove the eggs and spinach from the skillet and place them on the tortilla.
- Scatter sun-dried tomatoes and feta over the eggs and spinach.
- Fold the tortilla like a burrito (bottom up first, then sides), cut it in half, and serve.
Notes
- If you have a Panini press, briefly pressing the wrap enhances the texture and flavor without overcooking.
