Homemade Taco Seasoning
Description
"Homemade Taco Seasoning" combines several dried spices including chili powder, ground cumin, sea salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic and onion powders, crushed red pepper flakes, and dried oregano. The recipe instructs to mix these ingredients thoroughly and store the blend in an airtight container for up to six months, preserving its flavors. When preparing tacos, three tablespoons of this seasoning are added to browned ground beef, then simmered to infuse the flavors evenly.
The seasoning mix creates a warm, slightly smoky, and mildly spicy profile that complements the savory beef base. It can be adjusted for heat by varying the amount of crushed red pepper flakes. This flexibility lets cooks tailor the spice blend to personal preference.
Beyond tacos, this seasoning works in various dishes requiring a Mexican-inspired flavor element. The recipe’s storage recommendation ensures ready access to the mix, saving time in future cooking.
