Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

This homemade taco seasoning blends paprika, onion and garlic powders, black pepper, cumin, dried herbs, and optional red pepper flakes to create a balanced spicy and aromatic mix. It is designed to season meat or other dishes evenly, allowing salt addition to taste. The simple mixing technique ensures even distribution of spices.

Description

The Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe combines a variety of dried spices including paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cumin, as well as dried parsley and oregano. Optional red pepper flakes add heat if desired. The oregano and parsley are rubbed between the hands before mixing to convert them into a finer texture, which helps even seasoning.

This seasoning is meant to be used primarily for meats, with a recommended quantity of 1 tablespoon per pound, allowing control over overall saltiness since salt is excluded intentionally. This provides flexibility for personal taste adjustments.

The mixture can be stored in a tightly sealed container for up to 3 months without losing potency, making it convenient to prepare in advance and keep on hand.
