Homemade Tomato Soup

This Homemade Tomato Soup features cooked down canned whole tomatoes blended into a smooth, flavorful soup base with sautéed garlic and onions. Butter starts the base for sweetness and richness, while chicken stock adds savory depth. The pureed soup has a smooth texture perfect for pairing with homemade garlic-toasted bread croutons sprinkled with Parmesan cheese, adding a satisfying crunch and extra flavor contrast.

Description

Homemade Tomato Soup is prepared by gently sautéing onions and garlic in butter to release their aromas, then combining them with canned whole tomatoes and chicken stock. The soup simmers for 45 minutes to meld the flavors before being pureed until smooth, creating a velvety texture without any added cream. Seasoned with salt to taste, the soup delivers a balance of tomato brightness and savory comfort.

The suggested homemade garlic croutons, toasted in butter and seasoned with garlic salt, add texture and a savory accent when sprinkled on top. A final touch of freshly grated Parmesan cheese complements the soup's mild acidity and enriches the overall flavor. This tomato soup offers a cozy starter or light meal option that pairs well with grilled cheese or salad.

Making your own croutons from fresh bread toasted in garlic butter enhances the experience but canned bread croutons can be substituted if desired. The soup is versatile and suitable for warming up on a cool day or serving at lunch.
