Honey Brûlée Brie
Description
The recipe begins by removing the top rind of an 8-ounce triple cream Brie wheel to expose the surface. Honey is spread evenly over the exposed cheese, followed by a layer of turbinado sugar. The Brie is baked at 350°F briefly to warm the cheese and slightly dissolve the honey and sugar.
Then, it is placed under a broiler or caramelized with a handheld torch until the sugar melts and gives a caramelized, golden crust. After cooling for a minute or two, the sugar hardens to form the characteristic brûléed crust, providing a sweet, crunchy contrast to the creamy Brie below.
This dish pairs well with crostini, crackers, or fresh crisp vegetables for dipping. It combines creamy, mild cheese with honey’s floral sweetness and caramelized sugar’s texture, offering a unique and elegant appetizer that is simple to prepare.
