Honey Buffalo Crockpot Meatballs
Description
Honey Buffalo Crockpot Meatballs rely on frozen pre-cooked meatballs simmered in a sauce blending hot sauce, honey, brown sugar, and yellow mustard. Slow cooking at low heat for 2.5 to 3 hours or high for about an hour lets the flavors fully develop without overcooking the meatballs. The honey and brown sugar add sweetness that tempers the spiciness from the hot sauce, creating a harmonious glaze around each meatball. Stirring occasionally during cooking helps prevent the sauce from sticking or burning, making cleanup easier.
The combination of ingredients yields meatballs that are both tender and richly sauced, perfect for serving hot at gatherings or alongside sides. Garnishing with fresh parsley adds color and a mild herbal note to complement the sauce.
Portion guidance suggests about 4 ounces of meatballs per serving and advises doubling the recipe for larger groups. Users should note that slow cooker heat levels vary, so cooking times may require slight adjustments to avoid under- or overcooking.
Ingredients
- 32 oz meatballs beef, turkey, or chicken, frozen, pre-cooked
- 1/2 cup hot sauce we use Frank's Red Hot
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tsp yellow mustard prepared
Instructions
Prepare
- Add frozen meatballs to the insert of your slow cooker.
Mix sauce
- In a small bowl, add the hot sauce, honey, brown sugar, and yellow mustard. Stir well until combined.
Cook
- Pour sauce over frozen meatballs in the slow cooker, and stir to coat them well.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 2.5 - 3 hours, or on HIGH for about an hour. While meatballs are cooking, I like to stir them every so often to make sure the sauce isn't burning.
Serve
- Serve hot, garnished with minced fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- The recipe yields approximately 8 servings at 4 ounces of meatballs each.
- For larger groups, double the recipe for ample portions.
- Slow cooker temperatures vary; check meatball doneness and sauce consistency occasionally during cooking.
- Stir the meatballs periodically while cooking to prevent the sauce from sticking or burning.
