Honey Butter Chicken

Honey Butter Chicken features bite-sized pieces of boneless, skinless chicken thighs cooked in a skillet with butter, honey, garlic, and apple cider vinegar. The result is tender chicken coated in a golden, caramelized sauce with a hint of sweetness and tang. Garnished with fresh parsley, this chicken is delicious served over mashed potatoes.

Description

The Honey Butter Chicken recipe uses small chicken thigh pieces cooked in olive oil and butter to develop color and flavor. The chicken is seasoned simply with salt and pepper before cooking. Additional butter is added with honey, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar, creating a pan sauce that simmers to a caramelized glaze coating the chicken evenly.

The cooking method is a straightforward pan-sear and simmer which helps produce tender, flavorful meat with a glossy, slightly sweet sauce. The addition of apple cider vinegar adds mild acidity balancing the honey's sweetness.

This dish pairs well when served over mashed potatoes, which absorb the sauce nicely. A garnish of fresh parsley adds a touch of color and freshness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter divided
  • 1 pound chicken thigh cut into bite-size pieces, boneless, skinless
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 2 ½ tablespoons honey
  • 1 large clove garlic minced
  • 1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • parsley finely chopped, for garnish, fresh

Instructions

  1. Heat oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large non-stick skillet over high heat.
  2. When the butter is melted, add the chicken. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then cook until it changes from pink to white and starts to brown.
  3. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, honey, garlic, and vinegar. Bring to a simmer. Turn the chicken to coat in the sauce until it is golden and caramelized.
  4. Once the chicken is browned all over, remove it from the heat. Pile chicken onto mashed potatoes, and drizzle with the sauce in the pan. Garnish with parsley if desired.
