Ingredients
Marinade:
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Juice from ½ a lime
- pinch of white pepper
Shrimp:
- 1 tbsp butter or vegetable oil
- 8 oz uncooked shrimp, thawed
- 2 green onions, sliced on the diagonal
- Toasted sesame seeds, to taste
Instructions
- Make some garlic rice. (Click the link for the recipe).
- Make the marinade by combining the honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and white pepper together; whisk until well combined.
- Pour half of the marinade over the thawed shrimp and allow it to marinate for 20-30 minutes. Set aside the reserved marinade for later.
- Remove the shrimp from the marinade and shake off excess liquid very well. Discard marinade.
- Heat the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp to the hot pan and sear on one side for 1 minute then flip them over and sear on the other side for about 45 seconds. Remove from the skillet.
- Add the reserved marinade to the hot skillet and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring often for about 2-3 minutes, or until reduced and thickened.
- Add the shrimp back to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly in the sauce.
- Serve the honey garlic shrimp over steamed rice then top with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Enjoy.
