Honey Glazed Ham
Description
The ham is first cut in half and placed in a slow cooker with ginger ale poured over it to provide moisture and subtle sweetness during the gentle heating process. The ham cooks on low heat for four to five hours until heated through without drying out. Separately, honey is combined with ground mustard, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon to create a glaze with sweet and spiced notes.
After the initial slow cooking, the glaze is poured over the ham, coating it evenly. The ham then continues to cook for an additional thirty minutes which allows the glaze to warm and set, developing a shining, sticky coating that enhances flavor and appearance. This approach helps maintain tenderness and infuses the ham with complex warm spices.
This preparation makes a suitable main dish for gatherings or holiday meals, served sliced alongside traditional accompaniments. The use of ginger ale adds a mild sweetness and helps keep the ham moist during reheating in the slow cooker.
