Honey Grilled Watermelon Caprese Salads

Honey Grilled Watermelon Caprese Salads combine charred, sweetened watermelon wedges with fresh mozzarella, grape tomatoes, and basil. Grilling caramelizes the watermelon’s edges and enhances its sweetness, balanced by honey and olive oil. Drizzled with balsamic glaze, this salad offers a refreshing and contrasting mix of juicy fruit, creamy cheese, and aromatic herbs, ideal as a light starter or side dish.

Description

This salad features large watermelon slices cut into triangles, seasoned with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then brushed with honey before grilling briefly to add char marks and deepen flavor. The grilled watermelon retains juiciness but gains a subtle smokiness and intensified sweetness. The salad is assembled by layering these watermelon pieces with fresh mozzarella halves or slices, quartered grape tomatoes, and fresh basil leaves. The finishing touch is a drizzle of balsamic glaze that contributes acidity and a touch of sweetness. This combination creates multiple textures and flavor contrasts—from soft and juicy watermelon, creamy cheese, to crisp tomatoes and fragrant basil—making for a vibrant salad with both grilled and fresh elements. It's best served immediately to enjoy the contrast of warm and cool components.
