Honey Lemon Pepper Wings
Description
This recipe uses about a pound of chicken wings coated in olive oil and a dry rub consisting of garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, sea salt, and optional lemon pepper seasoning. The wings can be cooked either in the oven or air fryer. Oven cooking involves baking at 400°F for 35-40 minutes on a lined pan, turning the heat higher at the end for additional crispness. The air fryer method preheats to 390°F and cooks with similar seasoning application.
While the wings cook, a honey glaze is prepared by combining lemon juice, minced garlic, honey, and optionally lemon slices, heated gently until lightly thickened. After cooking, wings are tossed with the glaze to coat them thoroughly.
Finished wings combine a crispy exterior with a sticky, sweet-tangy glaze amplified by garlic and lemon flavors. The recipe notes emphasize careful glaze monitoring to prevent burning due to honey's sugar content and recommend using a meat thermometer to verify the wings reach 165°F. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days.

Notes
- Thaw frozen wings before cooking, or extend cooking time (10-15 minutes in oven, 5 minutes in air fryer) if using frozen.
- Stir the honey glaze frequently while cooking to avoid burning due to honey's sugar content.
- Lemon pepper seasoning can be omitted if unavailable; the wings still develop strong flavor.
- Confirm internal wing temperature reaches 165°F with a meat thermometer for food safety.
- Store any leftover wings in the refrigerator for up to three days.
