Honey Mustard Homemade Snack Mix

This Honey Mustard Homemade Snack Mix combines toasted corn, rice, and wheat cereals with honey mustard pretzels and honey roasted peanuts. Coated in a warm butter, mustard, honey, and seasoning mixture then baked, the mix results in a crunchy, flavorful snack with a balance of sweet and tangy honey mustard notes and savory undertones from seasoned salt and onion powder.

Description

The Honey Mustard Homemade Snack Mix brings together a variety of toasted cereals and snacks, including corn, rice, and wheat cereals along with honey mustard pretzel twists and honey roasted peanuts. These components create a textural contrast with crispness from cereals and crunch from nuts and pretzels. The coating mixture made of butter, French's yellow mustard, honey, seasoned salt, and onion powder is microwaved until melted and hot, then mixed evenly with the dry ingredients to ensure thorough coverage.

Baking the coated mix at a low temperature of 250°F for 40 minutes allows the flavors to meld and enhances the crunch without burning. Stirring halfway promotes even cooking. After baking and cooling, the snack mix can be stored in an airtight container, making it great for parties or snacking.
