Honey Mustard Salmon
Description
The salmon fillets are seasoned with salt and pepper, then coated with a honey mustard sauce made by whisking together whole grain and regular Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, lemon juice, thyme, paprika, and garlic powder. Baking at 400°F ensures the salmon cooks through evenly, becoming tender and flaky while the glaze caramelizes slightly on the surface, enhancing the flavor.
The combination of Dijon mustards adds depth and texture to the glaze while honey provides sweetness to offset the fish's natural richness. The lemon juice brightens the flavors, and dried thyme and paprika add subtle herbaceous and smoky notes. This preparation method keeps the salmon moist and flavorful without heaviness.
Serve the salmon immediately while hot, alongside simple side dishes like steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad. Avoid overcooking to maintain moistness; the fish should flake easily with a fork when ready. This recipe offers a practical approach to a flavorful salmon entrée with minimal fuss.
Storing cooked salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator allows keeping leftovers up to three days. Reheat gently in a low oven covered with foil or on the stovetop with a little water to maintain moisture without drying out. Patting salmon dry before adding the glaze improves adhesion and browning during baking.
