Honey Orange Firecracker Shrimp

Honey Orange Firecracker Shrimp features medium peeled and deveined shrimp coated in cornstarch, dipped in egg, and pan-fried until golden. The shrimp are then tossed in a sweet and spicy glaze made from honey, fresh orange juice, orange zest, garlic powder, crushed red pepper flakes, and ground ginger, delivering a tangy, mildly spicy flavor balanced with citrus sweetness.

Description

This recipe begins by seasoning medium-sized peeled and deveined shrimp with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, then coating them in cornstarch and dipping in beaten eggs for a light batter. The shrimp are fried briefly in hot vegetable oil until golden brown and crisp on the outside. Excess oil is drained by placing the shrimp on paper towels.

The glaze is prepared in a saucepan by combining honey, freshly squeezed orange juice, orange zest, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and ground ginger. These ingredients simmer until the sauce thickens, providing a sticky, flavorful coating for the shrimp. Once cooked, the shrimp are immediately tossed or drizzled with this honey-orange firecracker sauce to keep them glossy and well-coated.

The dish combines a crisp exterior texture with a sticky, sweet-spicy sauce highlighting citrus and warming spices. It’s suitable for serving as a flavorful appetizer or main dish, offering an appealing balance of heat and sweetness that complements the tender shrimp.
