Honey Sriracha Salmon

Honey Sriracha Salmon offers a sticky, sweet, and spicy glaze infused with soy, honey, apple cider vinegar, Sriracha, ginger, and garlic. The salmon is marinated and then pan-cooked, creating a browned exterior coated in a shiny glaze. Garnished with parsley and served warm, this dish balances heat and sweetness with tender salmon flesh.

Description

This recipe coats salmon fillets in a flavorful glaze combining soy sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, Sriracha sauce, grated ginger, and minced garlic. After marinating, the salmon is seared on the skin side until golden, flipped to brown the other side, then simmered covered with reserved marinade to cook through and intensify the sticky glaze.

The result is salmon with a rich, shiny coating that combines savory, sweet, acidic, and spicy notes. A sprinkle of chopped parsley adds freshness to the presentation.

Serve this salmon with steamed rice or noodles to absorb the flavorful glaze. Marinating overnight in the refrigerator maximizes the depth of flavor. The glaze provides a layered taste profile combining heat from Sriracha and pungency from garlic and ginger with balanced sweetness from honey.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 oz (230g) salmon cut into 2 pieces, fillet
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil or cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon parsley for garnishing, chopped

Salmon Glaze:

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced

Instructions

  1. Mix all the Salmon Glaze ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Marinate the salmon with the Salmon Glaze for 30 minutes, or preferably overnight.
  3. Remove the salmon from the container, reserving the marinade. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the sesame oil. Rotate the pan to coat the bottom evenly, then add the salmon, skin side down.
  4. Cook the salmon until browned on one side, about 2 minutes. Flip the salmon and cook until the other side is browned, about 2 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and pour in the reserved marinade. Cover and cook until the fish is cooked through, about 3 minutes.
  5. Dish out the salmon and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Marinate the salmon in glaze overnight in the refrigerator for best flavor infusion.
  • Cook the salmon skin side down first for a nicely browned surface.
  • The glaze creates a sticky, shiny coating combining sweet, spicy, savory, and acidic flavors.
  • Serve with steamed rice or noodles to complement the rich sauce.
