Honey Sriracha Salmon
Description
The recipe involves seasoning salmon fillets simply with salt and pepper, then brushing on a honey sriracha glaze made of honey, spicy sriracha, garlic, white wine vinegar, and ginger. Baking on parchment paper helps ensure even cooking and easy cleanup. The salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F to ensure doneness without drying out.
The glaze balances sweet honey with the heat of sriracha and sharpness of garlic and vinegar, giving the salmon a layered flavor. After baking, an additional brush of glaze and optional sprinkling of sesame seeds and chopped green onions adds visual appeal and a slight crunch. The final dish is tender and slightly sticky with a noticeable but not overpowering spicy-sweet glaze.
Serving the salmon warm allows the flavors to shine and the texture to be soft and moist. It pairs well with simple sides or steamed vegetables to complement the rich glaze. Adjusting sriracha quantity allows control over heat level.
Variations include substituting maple syrup for honey or apple cider vinegar for white wine vinegar. Monitoring cooking time based on fillet thickness helps avoid overcooking. Testing flakiness with a fork is a good indicator of readiness.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets
- salt to taste, freshly ground
- black pepper to taste, freshly ground
- sesame seeds optional
- green onions optional
Honey Sriracha Glaze
- 4 Tablespoon honey
- 2 Tablespoon sriracha
- 1 ½ Tablespoon garlic minced
- 2 Tablespoon white wine vinegar
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 F.
- Mix glaze ingredients in a small bowl.
- Season salmon fillets with salt and pepper on both sides. Brush salmon with 2/3 of the honey sriracha glaze.
- Place salmon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake at 400 F for about 10 -12 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 145 F.
- After the salmon is done, brush the salmon filets with the other 1/3 of the glaze. You can sprinkle some sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top. Serve warm with your favorite side.
Notes
- Test salmon doneness by gently flaking with a fork; it should separate easily but remain moist to avoid dryness.
- Maple syrup can replace honey for a different sweet note; apple cider vinegar can substitute white wine vinegar in the glaze.
- Start the glaze with less sriracha and increase to taste for controlled spiciness.
- Cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of salmon fillets; monitor closely to prevent overcooking.
