Hot Chocolate Oatmeal Breakfast Bowl
Description
This breakfast bowl uses rolled oats cooked slowly with cocoa powder, milk, salt, and vanilla extract over low heat. The oats absorb the liquid while the cocoa flavors the mixture evenly. The slow cooking results in a creamy, tender consistency. Once thick and creamy, the maple syrup adds sweetness, balancing the deep cocoa notes.
Serving the oatmeal in bowls and garnishing with chopped dark chocolate while warm lets the chocolate partially melt, adding richness and glossy texture. The oatmeal offers a chocolaty taste with familiar oat chew, merging comfort and indulgence in a morning meal.
Adjust the sweetness by varying the maple syrup amount. Using gluten-free oats and dairy-free milks accommodates dietary needs. Quick oats can be used with less liquid and shorter cooking time. Substituting sugar-free chocolate and unsweetened milk lowers calories without affecting the overall recipe.
