Ingredients
- 8 frozen white bread rolls I used Rhodes
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 cups water
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 egg beaten
- coarse sea salt
Instructions
- Defrost and proof roll dough according to packaged directions. This should take 3-4 hours.
- Preheat oven to 375° F. Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- Bring water to a boil in a pot. Add baking soda.
- While water is coming to a boil, remove hot dogs from packaging and blot dry with paper towels. Having dry hot dogs will help the dough stay in place, so be sure to not skip this step.
- Take 1 roll dough ball and roll on the counter into a rope. Wrap dough around your hot dog, tucking or pinching the ends onto itself to hold dough in place. Continue this process with remaining hot dogs.
- Boil hot dogs 30 seconds each and remove gently with large slotted spoon. Place onto prepared baking sheet. Brush with egg and top with coarse sea salt.
- Bake 12-15 minutes or until dough is dark golden brown. Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, queso dip, anything your little heart desires.
