Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches
Description
This recipe uses canned crescent roll dough pressed and baked into a sheet before layering with Dijon mustard, folded deli ham, and pepper jack cheese. A second sheet of crescent dough covers the filling, sealed and brushed with a mixture of melted butter, parsley, and garlic powder. Baking the assembled sandwich at 375°F results in a golden, flaky crust with melted cheese and warm ham inside.
The mustard adds a tangy base layer, balancing the rich ham and pepper jack cheese, which melts smoothly under the dough. The buttery and herb butter brushed on top gives a flavorful, crisp finish.
Ideal served warm, these sandwiches can be cut into portions for gatherings or casual dinners. The preparation uses readily available ingredients and requires moderate oven time, making it convenient for feeding a group.
Ingredients
- 2 crescent dough Pillsbury, cans
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 12 lices ham honey, deli
- 8 lices pepper jack cheese
- 3 tablespoons butter melted
- 1 teaspoon parsley dried
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375F.
- Open one of the cans of crescent rolls and place it into a 7x11-inch glass baking dish that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Press the seams of the dough together to form one piece of dough.
- Bake the crescent roll sheet at 375F for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Spread the dijon mustard evenly over the baked crescent roll sheet.
- Fold each slice of deli ham in half and place over the dijon mustard.
- Add the cheese over the ham in an even layer.
- Open the remaining tube of crescent roll dough and place over top of the cheese layer. Pinch the seams of the dough together to seal closed.
- In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, parsley, and garlic. Brush the mixture over the dough.
- Bake at 375F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown on top. Remove from the oven and cool for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
