Hot Honey Bacon Wrapped Goat Cheese Stuffed Dates
Description
The recipe begins by slicing dates open to remove pits and filling them with goat cheese, which provides a creamy, tangy contrast to the natural sweetness of the dates. Each stuffed date is wrapped in half a slice of bacon, which crisps up during baking, adding smoky, salty flavor and a crunchy texture.
Baking at 400°F twice—flipping midway—ensures even cooking and crispy bacon on all sides. A drizzle of hot honey after baking finishes the dish with a sweet heat that complements the flavors while adding a shiny glaze.
The dates are best served immediately when the bacon is warm and crispy, making them a flavorful finger food suited for parties or appetizers.
Ingredients
- 20 Medjool dates
- 10 lices Bacon
- 4 ounces goat cheese
- hot honey for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- Slice the dates open lengthwise (do not cut the entire way through!) and remove the pits. Stuff the inside of the dates with some of the goat cheese.
- Cut each slice of bacon in half and wrap half of the slice around a date. Secure with a toothpick. Place the dates on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then flip the dates over (I use kitchen tongs for this) and bake for 10 minutes more, or until the bacon is crispy and crunchy on all sides.
- Remove the dates and drizzle with hot honey.
- Serve immediately!
