Hot Honey BBQ Chicken Thighs with Citrus Slaw Salad

Hot Honey BBQ Chicken Thighs are seasoned and broiled boneless, skinless chicken thighs coated in a mixture of hot honey, BBQ sauce, and apple cider vinegar, creating a spicy, tangy glaze with charred edges. They are paired with a fresh citrus slaw salad made from cabbage, carrots, red onion, cilantro, almonds, and orange segments tossed in a lime-honey-garlic dressing. This combination offers a balance of rich, spicy meat and crisp, bright salad.

Description

This recipe features boneless, skinless chicken thighs seasoned with kosher salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. The chicken is broiled on both sides to develop a charred surface. A glaze made from hot honey, BBQ sauce, and apple cider vinegar is brushed on during the final broil to add sweetness, acidity, and heat. Repeated glazing and broiling creates a sticky, slightly caramelized coating on the chicken.

The citrus slaw combines thinly sliced green cabbage, shaved carrots, thin red onion slices, chopped cilantro, sliced almonds, and segmented oranges. The dressing is emulsified from lime juice, honey, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and avocado oil, providing a tangy, sweet-acidic, and fresh flavor profile that contrasts with the bold chicken.

Serving these together balances the warm, spicy meats with a refreshing, crunchy slaw that adds texture and brightness. It is suited for casual meals and highlights contrasts between smoky chicken and citrus notes. The almonds add a nutty crunch to the salad while the orange segments bring bursts of juicy sweetness.
