How to Boil Chicken

Report
This recipe explains how to boil chicken breasts in chicken broth seasoned with salt and pepper until fully cooked and tender. The method yields cooked chicken ideal for shredding and using in various dishes like salads, tacos, or soups.

Description

In this straightforward method, chicken breasts are placed in a pot and seasoned simply with salt and pepper. Chicken broth is poured over to cover the meat, with additional water if necessary. The mixture is brought to a boil, then simmered covered on low heat to gently cook the chicken through.

Boiling the chicken in broth rather than plain water adds subtle flavor while keeping it moist. Cooking time depends on the size and quantity of chicken but generally falls between 20 to 30 minutes. The chicken is done when fully white inside and reaches 165°F internally.

The boiled chicken is then removed and may be shredded for use in various recipes. This basic technique produces tender chicken suitable for many preparations requiring cooked chicken without extra seasoning or browning.
