How to Cook Bratwurst on a Stove
Description
Begin by browning bratwurst in a hot cast iron skillet with vegetable oil, which creates a nicely caramelized surface while locking in juices. After browning both sides, chicken broth is added to the pan, and the sausages simmer gently with a lid on. This cooking step ensures the bratwurst are fully cooked to a safe temperature without drying out.
The flavor is mild and savory from the bratwurst meat itself, complemented by the browning and broth-infused moisture. Simple seasoning with salt and pepper enhances without overpowering. The texture combines a juicy interior and a slightly crisped exterior.
This cooking technique suits serving bratwurst as a main dish alongside mustard, sauerkraut, or buns. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to five days in an airtight container, making it a practical recipe for multiple servings.
